The 8 times Italian title Champions and are seven-time European champions AC Milan have not finished in the top three in Serie A since 2013. The club have only 20 points in Series A and lays at the Seventh Position in the Point Table. They are Eighteen Points behind the leaders Napoli. On sunday they drew 0-0 with Torino and have lost six of their 14 matches this season.
AC Milan have announced Motella’s departure after Sunday’s draw with Torino. In June 2016 Vincenzo Montella took in charge of AC Milan. Milan spent over €200 million in this summer. In the absence of Motella, former midfielder Gennaro Gattuso will be in charge of the team.
Milan posted in their official website that “We are very grateful to Mr. Montella and his staff for all the work done up to today, their commitment and professionalism.”
In Instagram he posted “Leaving Milan is very painful, I tried to give all I have got, but I accept the decision which has been taken. I evidently failed, but I will keep on supporting them.”
AC Milan now need to some improvement in results if they want to finish in the European qualification places. Also speculation in Italy says that Milan will not be admitted to either the Champions League or the Europa League due to financial irregularities over the takeover of the club in last April.
