Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital during Argentina’s friendly clash against Nigeria on tuesday after collapsing during half-time. The Manchester City striker scored during the first half to achieve his 36th international goal and moving clear of Hernan Crespo for third place on Argentina’s all-time scoring list.

After the match he was taken to a medical facility for further analysis. The Argentina’s Football Association later updated on Twitter confirming Aguero had returned to the team hotel.

The federation explained via Twitter that “Aguero suffered a collapse and was therefore taken to carry out routine studies merely as a precaution,”

In the absence of Aguero, Argentina was defeated by Nigeria with a score of 4-2 , with three of Nigeria’s goals coming after half time.

The Manchester City announced on their website: “Sergio Aguero has been cleared by doctors, he will return to Manchester as planned after suffering a dizzy spell during Argentina’s defeat by Nigeria in Krasnodar. He will undergo an assessment by the club’s medical team ahead of this weekend’s Premier League trip to Leicester City.”

Sergio Aguero has re-joined the Argentina squad after the injury. Argentina later clarified that their striker had been treated as a precaution, and that routine tests were carried out.
