Australia defeated England by 10 wickets in the first test of Ashes series at Gabba. Australia now has an unbeaten streak of 29 tests at the Gabba. They have won 22 test and 7 of them ended in draw. They are unbeaten at Gabba since 1989.

In the first innings England took 302 for 10 Wickets at a run rate of 2.58. In that MD Stoneman, JM Vince and DJ Malan scored a half century. JM Vince (83) was the top scorer. For Australia bot MA Starc and PJ Cummins took 3 wickets each. On the other hand Australia scored 328 for 10 wickets with a run rate of 2.51. Caption Smith scored a century and SE Marsh scored a half century too. In the bowling England’s Broad took 3 wickets and Anderson and Ali took 2 wickets each. At the end of first Innings Australia had a lead of 26 runs.

In the second Innings the Australia tightened their bowling and they took England 10 wickets with a score of 195. England caption Root scored a half century and he was England’s top scorer. For Australia Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon took 3 wickets each. Chasing a target of 170, Australia’s David Warner (87) and Cameron Bancroft (82) took the required runs in short time. Thus hosts Australia Won the first test match of the Ashes series 2017.

In the previous occasions England lost the first Test in Australia and after they won the Ashes, but Root’s men need only draw the series to retain the title.
