India showed heart but with some bad luck cost them their second game against Colombia.Colombians were superior in skill and quality. This is India’s second defeat in a row. India had also lost their opening game 0-3 to the United States of America on October 6.

Even on defeat India created history by scoring their 1st ever goal in FIFA U-17. Jeakson Singh busts the Colombian defense and sent the ball rocketing into the net for India’s first ever goal at a FIFA World Cup in the 82nd minute of the game.Audience jumped from their seat to celebrate the goal, including Jeakson’s parents. New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium lit up and an enormous amount of cheers where given to Indian team. Indian Coach Louis Matos threw his arms out in the air. The team congealed into a huddle, if only for a second or two. Jeakson himself looked skyward and then jogged back to his place in the defense.

But the celebrations didn’t last long in the cruelest of ironies, Colombia counter attacked  almost immediately and Juan Penaloza scores the 2nd goal, not even sixty seconds had passed from the Indian equalizer.Penaloza had already netted in the 49th minute and his second sealed the match 2-1 for Colombia….

Goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh was the best player in the pitch and made some absolutely breathtaking saves. This Indian team showed in this match that they have what it takes to challenge the big sides. But need to improve in more areas than one but this team showed Indian football’s potential.
