The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the fixtures for the T20I tri-series on Friday November 2017. Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh will go head to head in two league matches. All the matches will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The tri-nation series will be played as a part of celebrating Sri Lanka’s 70 years of independence. In 1998 this tri-series was played in Sri Lanka as a part of their 50 years of Independence celebration.

BCCI CEO, Rahul Johri said that : “We the Indians are privileged to be a part of Sri Lanka’s 70th year celebrations, there is no closer friend to BCCI than Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. When Mr. Sumathipala the SLC President first floated this invitation, there was almost instant agreement that the Indian Team would participate for this reason.”

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan Papon says that “This tournament will continue to strengthen the bonds between the 3 nations.” He also said that “The support and contribution from both  Sri Lanka and India in Bangladesh’s cricketing history could not be overemphasized, also this invitation was a clear testament to what a good friend Sri Lanka has been to Bangladesh’s Cricket.

The Nidahas Trophy 2018 begins on March 2018 and there will be night matches where each team will play each other twice. The final will played on March 30 2018.
