India’s Sumod Damodar elected to the ICC chief executive committe

India’s Sumod Damodaran has been elected as a chief executive member of International Cricket Council (ICC) on yesterday. It is for the first time in the history that a keralite being elected in prestigious Chief Executive Committee of ICC. The election was held during the commencement of an ICC meeting in England. Sumod has overpowered 4 candidates out of 6 opponents who were competed for three prestigious positions. Sumod finished in the 2nd position by acquiring 20 votes.

Even though he is a keralite, it is not his motherland India that made him to win the election. He was nominated from the African country Botswana. This mallu guy from Palakkad district of Kerala has been a renowned member of Botswana cricket association for the last 20 years. Currently he is the secretary of fixtures and publicity committee of Botswana cricket association.

The news of Sumod claiming a prestigious position in the ICC executive panel came just after the shocking resignation of Kumble. But Sumod with his stunning victory made India proud in the international cricket fraternity
