After registering a comfortable victory at MCA stadium in the 55th match of IPL 2017 facing Kings XI Punjab, RPS skipper Steven Smith spoke in the post-match presentation regarding the brilliance of his young bowlers and the unavailability of Ben Stokes in the further games.

Steven Smith further praised the effort of Shardul Thakur and Jaydev Unadkat for their job in the initial overs and admitted the fact that toss played a crucial role in the game with turf being a bit sticky.

”It was a nice day. Everything went according to plan. The bowlers did a decent job. Does not happen every day that you reduce a team to 73. It was an easy decision to bowl today, the wicket was a bit sticky. The bowlers did a terrific job. Shardul was just fantastic and then Unadkat,” said Steven Smith in the post-match presentation at MCA Stadium, Maharashtra.

”Obviously, it was our 2nd year in the tourney. We wanted to get the balance right. We had some new guys coming. We have got a couple of options that we can talk about. It is going to be a big loss. Stokes has been a big name. But hopefully, guys can step up,” he added.

The win against Kings XI Punjab helped RPS to clinch the second spot in the point table and and ensured to play qualifier 1 with 18 points.
