Manchester City forward and Argentine International Sergio Aguero has confirmed that he suffered a fractured rib when his taxi crashed in Amsterdam on Thursday evening. Pep Guardiola added that Aguero is set to miss Saturday’s match against Chelsea, and Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers in early October.
The Manchester City striker was reportedly in Amsterdam to watch a concert by Colombian singer Maluma when the taxi in which he was travelling to the airport skidded and hit the lamp pole.
Aguero is set to miss months of play under Pep Guardiola and two World Cup qualifiers with Argentina. Missing at least 11 games, Aguero spoke to Radio Metro de Argentina and said: “The taxi driver did not see the curve and skid. And when he skidded, we hit him with the pole. I broke my rib, now I’m resting. It hurts me badly. I’ll be discharged in a little while.”
The accident occurred on De Boelelaan street, said Zuiderhoek, not far from the Arena A where Colombian singer Maluma performed Thursday.
The Argentina striker, who has scored 128 goals in 187 games for the English club, on Thursday posted a picture of himself with the singer.
The striker needs only more two goals to become City’s all-time leading scorer and is widely viewed as one of the world’s most feared strikers.
