Novak Djokovic announced Andre Agassi as his new coach after losing the Italian Open final.
The world No 2 split with his entire backroom team earlier in the year, following a poor start to 2017.
Djokovic beat Andy Murray, the current No 1, in January’s Qatar Open but has failed to win another title since.
The 28-year-old lost to German youngster Alexander Zverev in the final of the Italian Open on Sunday and after the defeat confirmed his new coach will be Agassi.
Agassi, 47, won eight Grand Slams as a player and will start his new role ahead of the French Open at Roland Garros.
‘I spoke to Andre the last couple of weeks on the phone and we decided to get together in Paris,’ Djokovic said.
‘He’s going to be there. We’ll see what the future brings. We are both very excited to work together and see where it takes us.
‘We don’t have any long term commitment, it’s just us trying to get to know each other in Paris a little but.
‘He will not stay the whole tournament, he’s going to stay until a certain time then we’ll see what’s going to happen.
‘Andre is someone that I have tremendous respect for as a person and as a player. He has been through everything that I’m going through on court.
‘He understands the game amazingly well, I enjoy every conversation I’ve had with him. He’s also someone who nurtures the family values and philanthropy work.
‘He’s a person who can contribute to my life on and off the court a lot so I’m very excited to see what’s ahead of us.
