New Zealand and Peru tied to a 0-0 draw on Saturday in the first leg of their World Cup playoff that decides the final qualifier for Russia next year. Peru is currently ranking 10th in the world struggled a little in the absence of star striker and captain, Paolo Guerrero who was suspended from the team. New Zealand currently ranked 122nd in the world, also struggled in the beginning when key striker Chris Wood suffered due to hamstring injury. New Zealand soon came back to game with confidence and played their best.

Ricardo Gareca, the head coach of Peru said that victory belonged to them but was not easy and also promised to win the next game. He also praised New Zealand’s hardwork.
