Former Brazilan striker Robinho has been found guilty of a sexual assault and was sentenced for a nine years in prison by an Italian court on Thursday. The court’s wordict was against the 33-year-old and five other Brazilians, who assaulted an Albanian woman in  a night club, after  playing with her in alcohol. She was 22 year old.

According to La Stampa, Robinho and his friend have also been ordered to pay the victim €60,000. Robinho now plays for Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro.

The reports says that the two men (Robinho and his friend), along with a group of four other unidentified people drunk a woman and assaulted her at a Milan nightclub in January 2013. As the four others are unidentified, they are not been sentenced.

The striker, who left AC Milan in 2015, was not in the court, but pleaded not guilty through his lawyer. Until the appeals process is completed, the sentence will be put on hold. Several levels of appeal are permitted by the Italian justice system.

Robinho have denied any crime at the time of the allegations. His lawyer, Marisa Alija, stated that the player had no involvement in the incident and he have already made legal arrangements to defend the decision.
