Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane on Tuesday confirmed that he had a new contract with the Spanish Champions, though no official event had been held to announce it. Early the contract was to run out at the end of this season.

In 18 months in charge, the former Real midfielder has won the Champions League twice and La Liga once.

There had been some speculation a couple weeks ago that Zidane was on the verge of signing an extension with Real Madrid but there was never any more news on the issue, till Tuesday.

Zidane has taken Real Madrid from some tough times when Rafa Benitez was at the helm, to now being the best club through and through not only in Europe, but in the world. The 45-year-old former France international managed Real’s B team before replacing Rafael Benitez.

Real Madrid have already extended the contracts of players Marcelo, Isco Alarcon and Dani Carvajal.

Real Madrid will face Real Betis in the league match on Wednesday , although they will be without defender Theo Hernandez who injured his shoulder in Sunday’s 3-1 win at Real Sociedad, but that won’t be a matter as Real Madrid Super Player Cristiano is back in team after five match suspension.
