Olympic silver medalists PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal were thrashed out of $325,000 Japan open series in Tokyo by Nozomi Okuhara and Carolina Marin respectively.

Sindhu was in her peak form as she recently won Korea Open series and became world No.2 player, which was her highest in rankings. This Sunday,she beated Nozomi Okuhara to win Korea Open series. However as a sweet revenge Nozomi Okuhara produced a stunning display of badminton to thrash out Sindhu 21-18, 21-8 in the second round of the Japan Open Super Series. This was Nozomi’s fifth victory over nine clashes fought between.

It was breath taking clash as Saina Nehwal took on Carolina Marin in the second round of the Japan Open in Tokyo on Thursday. But it was disappointing for the Saina as she went down 21-16, 21-13 to the Spanish shuttler and Olympic gold medal winner. Earlier Saina and Carolina had face each other seven times. As of today’s victory both have won four matches each.

In the men’s singles event, HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth stormed into the quarter-finals after comfortably winning their matches. While Prannoy registered a 21-16, 23-21 win over Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei in one hour, eighth seed Srikanth took just 29 minutes to clinch a 21-12, 21-11 triumph over Hong Kong’s Hu Yun.
