Tim Paine is set to make a surprise comeback behind the stumps for Australia to face England in the Ashes Test series. He will have his first match against England at Gabba. The Australian National Team selectors confirmed his return after  a long period of 7 years.

The 32 year old had his last test match in 2010 against India. Trevor Hohns, the Australia national selector said that “Tim was identified as an an international player a long time ago and was always been renowned as a very good gloveman,”.

Along with Tim Paine, Cameron Bancroft and Shaun Marsh are also a part of the first two Ashes test series against England. The opening batsman Cameron Bancroft is also set for his test debut. The 13-man squad , are now at Brisbane to prepare and practice for the coming matches.

Paine’s was selected considering his performance as a batsman alongside Wade this week for Tasmania. Also recently he made a half-century against England as captain of the Cricket Australia XI.

The first test series begins on November 23 at Gabba

Australian squad for the first to series are  : Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird, Chadd Sayers.
