After MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar now a biopic on woman cricketer Jhulan Goswami is under progress. Jhulan will be the first female cricketer on whom a biopic will be made.

Senior Indian women’s cricket team captain Jhulan Goswami on Monday said a biopic will be made on her under the title ‘Chakdah Express.’

The biopic will portray the life of Jhulan from her hometown in Nadia district to Lord’s where India narrowly lost out on the women’s World Cup final to England this year. The movie will be made in Hindi and director Susanta Das who directed 2012 Bengali movie ‘Asche Bochor Abar Hobe, said they will start the scripting soon and the shoot will begin in April next year.

Over the past few years, other biopics like ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Azhar’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, a docu-styled film of Sachin Tendulkar’s life, and one that narrated ‘untold’ stories about MS Dhoni have had varying levels of success in box office. We can say it is a successor in the series of biopic. The film has its relevance as the Indian Women cricket reached the finals of World cup for the first time and Jhulan was the backbone of team who made it to finals.

It is not finalized about the cast and crew. The director says it will confirmed by the end of october.

“I have got proposals for a biopic before as well. This is the right time I thought,” Goswami told.

The upcoming biopics are on badminton superstar Saina Nehwal played by Shraddha Kapoor and Indian Hockey legend Dhyan Chand brought alive on the silver screen.
