Olympic silver medallist shuttler PV Sindhu, the Indian badminton queen, accused the Indian airline company IndiGo for having “a very bad experience” while taking her flight from Hyderabad to Mumbai on Saturday. Sindhu took to Twitter to explain her experience from the ground staffer who misbehaved with her during the journey.

She expressed her anguish by tweeting about the incident,

Sindhu described the incident as “a very bad experience” from a staff named Ajeetesh who  denied her carrying her kit-bag which had her racquets inside it claiming it was oversized and not fit for overhead cabin. She argued as she normally carries them as hand luggage.

She then took her the incident directly into the notice of the IndiGo airline authorities with a tweet to the airline,

Twitter was accumulated with requests of users asking Sindhu not to mention the name of  the airplane staff and to forgive him. Followers plead Sindhu not to destroy the staff’s career and not to make it a very serious issue since such things take place sometimes.

Soon after the tweet, IndiGo Airlines replied to her tweet asking if they could contact her and clarify the situation.

The IndiGo Airlines Authorities’ statement said,  “Ms PV Sindhu boarded the flight 6E608 Hyderabad-Mumbai carrying oversized baggage which was not fitting into the overhead bin. Ms Sindhu was informed that it will be moved to cargo hold of the aircraft. This is the same policy we follow for all customers. Oversized baggage inside the cabinis  inconvenient to other passengers and can also be a safety hazard if it is not secured properly in the cabin.”

‘During the entire conversation, the member of the IndiGo ground operations remained calm. After several requests to her manager, they finally consented to the removal of the bag from the cabin. We then placed the over-sized baggage in the cargo hold and was handed over to Ms Sindhu on arrival.’

‘We are extremely proud of Ms Sindhu’s sporting achievements and are grateful for the laurels she has won for our country. However, safety of our operations is paramount to IndiGo. We hope that Ms Sindhu will appreciate that our colleague was only carrying out his duty in the best interest of a safe and reliable operation,’.

Sindhu’s father who was also travelling with her mentioned;

“The ground staff misbehaved with her while handling her kit bag. She had requested him to handle it with care as there were racquets inside. But the staff behaved rudelyand the air hostess who tried to interfere were also mistreated. One should not behave with a lady like that”
