The 30 year old Argentina caption Lionel Messi had signed a new deal with the Spanish club Barcelona. The deal was set set for €700m. Now he runs till the end of the 2020-21 season in the club. He joined the club at the age of 13, Since his joining the club have won eight Spanish league titles and four Champions League.His previous deal was due to expire on next year.
Messi have scored a total of 523 goals in 602 appearances for the club. Out of that 523 goals he had scored 36 hat-tricks. Last Friday he was honored with his fourth European Golden Shoe award for scoring the maximum number of goals in European club football. He scored a total of 37 goals in the Spanish league last season.

Barca announced the news of new contract signing in an an official club statement. which says “FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi signed a new contract on Saturday morning that will keep the Argentinian at the Club through the 2020/21 season”.
The club had already announced in July that Messi had agreed a new deal, but it was not yet confirmed. After siging he said “I am happy. It has been a while that we’ve needed to do the signing and it’s been done now and I’m happy to continue.”
