After a great victory over India by 8 wickets on Tuesday,Australian team was returning to the hotel from the Barsapara stadium, that is when the attack happened.A rock roughly the size of a cricket ball was thrown at the bus.the rock hit a window on the right-hand side of the bus. The projectile pierced through the glass and ended up inside the bus, shattering the window.

Luckily no player was injured in the incident as the nearest seat to the window pane was unoccupied, but the Australian players were understandably shaken up by the incident.

This was the first time in seven years that Guwahati hosted an international cricket match and the incident that occurred after the match was over came as as a blot on the hosts. There was not a single unsavory incident inside the stadium during the match that was a smooth affair.

Aaron Finch tweeted a photo of a broken window pane of the Australian team bus stating it was “pretty scary” after the incident.Which was retweeted by David Warner.

R Ashwin responded to the twitters saying “We are a country that treats ours guests with great respect and hospitality. The stone thrown at the Aussie team bus shows us in bad light, let’s all act more responsibly. A vast majority of us are capable of that.🙏”

Gorchuk police arrested two youth for reportedly being involved in the attack on the Australian team bus following the second T20I in Guwahati. However it raised serious question marks on Assam Cricket Association and state police’s security arrangements for the match at the newly constructed stadium in Barsapara.

“We made every attempt to ensure a foolproof security but don’t know how this happened. It was near the team hotel and not at the crowded street near the stadium,” Buragohain. “The police have already arrested two persons and are investigating into the matter. I can assure that such incident won’t occur in future again. There will be a thick security cover when the Australian team leaves for Hyderabad,” he added.
